Deadline for Swiss letter in Zardari coruption case -
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf
Wikipedia-Naziradil
It is the final day for the Pakistani prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to submit a draft of the Swiss letter in the Zardari corruption case to Pakistan's Supreme Court.

Ashraf has been ordered to write a letter to the Swiss authorities asking them to re-open the corruption investigation into the finances of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.

On September 18, Ashraf announced that the Pakistani government would agree to the court's demand. Before, the government refused to write the letter, appealing to Pakistan's constitution which grants immunity to the ruling President against trial in any court.

Earlier, the same Court order resulted in the disqualification from office of former PM Yousaf Raza Gilani.

Gilani was found guilty of contempt of court after he refused to ask Switzerland to re-open the corruption investigation. Following Gilani's disqualification, Ashraf was elected to office by Pakistan's Parliament on June 22.
