Preliminary hearing in the case of five alleged architects of 9/11 attacks takes place, after it was postponed for ten days due to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The hearing, which had already been postponed once, follows the first appearance of confessed September 2001 attacks mastermind Khaled Sheikh Mohammed and four other suspects before the Guantanamo military commission.
The defendants were formally charged with terrorism, hijacking, conspiracy, murder and destruction of property for their roles in the Al-Qaeda attacks, in which hijacked planes were used for suicide attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people.
If convicted, the defendants face the death penalty.
