The King Mohammed VI of Morocco speaks to the nation on the anniversary of his accession to the throne, which took place in 1999. 

The King succeeded his father King Hassan II. 


Shortly after Mohammed VI acceded to the throne, he promised to take on poverty and corruption, while creating jobs and improving Morocco's human rights record. He has since kept many of his promises and achieved significant political and social improvements.
