UK PM Cameron comments on House of Lords reforms

British Prime Minister David Cameron makes a statement on the House of Lords reforms, amid speculations that he may want to abandon the plans for electing members.

The government's Liberal Democrats, who deem the reforms "non-negotiable", have been pushing for almost halving the number of Lords members and for electing eighty percent of the peers.

The Conservatives, however, oppose the plans. Ninety three of their MPs rebelled against the government-proposed reforms in July vote. 

According to British Daily Telegraph reports, Cameron failed to win support for the reforms in his own Conservative Party, which could mean that the reforms will be dropped despite his promise to try to push them through again in September.
