Court issues verdict in anti-Putin punk trial

A Moscow court issues its verdict in the controversial trial of three feminist punk rockers who have been charged with hooliganism motivated by religious hatred.
Prosecutors have requested three-year prison sentences for the band members, whose case has divided the country.
The three members of the 'Pussy Riot' band were arrested and charged following an improvised performance calling for an end to the rule of President Vladimir Putin in Moscow's main cathedral.
Whilst many Russians found the act offensive to their beliefs, others see the trial as a symbol of the political repression that plagues today's Russia.
In March 2012, Putin was elected to his third term as president.
