An extradition hearing is held for internet entrepeneur and founder of online file-sharing site Megaupload Kim Dotcom, alias Kim Schmitz.
At the request of the FBI, New Zealand authorities raided Dotcom's country estate near Auckland late January 2012, a move that has since been ruled illegal by the court.
US federal authorities want to bring Dotcom to the US to be charged with internet piracy and copyright breaches. According to the FBI, Dotcom distributed $175 million worth of copyrighted content through his site without authorization.
Dotcom himself continues to maintain that Megaupload is nothing more than an online storage site.
