The eighth Group of Twenty summit meets to discuss important economic concerns, even as political issues go unresolved.
Several contentious topics have already plagued the summit, namely the Snowden asylum and Russia's firm objection to US-European action in Syria. Both these issues have raised concerns, with US President Obama going so far as to cancel a private meeting with Putin, citing Russia's protection of Snowden as the reason.
Despite these political clashes of interest, the G20 goes ahead as planned to discuss largely unrelated topics relating to resources and trade. Particularly important issues for this year's G20 include infrastructure development, global trade and fossil fuel strategies.
G20 is the leading economic cooperation forum, with heads of state from the world's 20 largest economies.
