Pakistani Court holds hearing on ISI formation of political cell

Pakistan's Supreme Court holds a hearing in the case of the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI's formation of a political cell in 1990.
The court case was sparked by a decade-old petition from Air Marshal Asghar Khan, in which he accused the ISI of financing politicians in the 1990 elections to create a new political party that prevented Benazir Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party from winning the elections.
According to Khan, the ISI paid the politicians 140 million Pakistani rupee to establish the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) party.
The Supreme Court has demanded the report of the IJI formation. Earlier requests for the report could not be answered. Moreover, the Court has ordered Pakistan's Defense and Interior secretaries to submit their responses to the case.
