An inquest is held into the death of ex-Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko. It was originally scheduled to begin in May but was delayed by five months. 


Litvinenko, a former Russian security officer, was granted asylum in Britain but died of radioactive polonium-210 poisoning in 2006 after having tea with two Russians in central London. 


The mysterious death was believed to have been masterminded by the Kremlin and became the cause of year-long diplomatic tensions between London and Moscow. 


At a pre-inquest hearing on September 19, High Court Judge Sir Robert Owen promised there would be "no further delay" in the investigation. 


The prime suspect in the case, Andrei Lugovoi, is now a Russian MP.
