iGoogle, the personalized home page from Google with all kinds of gadgets, is no longer available to users, who previously had 16 months to adjust or export their data. The mobile version of iGoogle was retired in July 2012, while Google Mini and Google Talk Chatback were also scrapped.
The official Google blog said that iGoogle was launched in 2005 "before anyone could fully imagine the ways that today's web and mobile apps would put personalized, real-time information at your fingertips." It is now argued that apps running on Chrome and Android have made iGoogle redundant.
User statistics indicate that iGoogle was widely used, and will be missed by many, but most probably the social network site Google+ will to a large extent replace iGoogle, although Google+ lacks many of iGoogle's features.
