US car producer Ford is set to cut hundreds of jobs in Europe due to a decline in demand. 

In a statement issued in late September 2012, Ford said it plans to offer voluntary buyouts for staff and cut jobs for "agency workers and purchased service".


"Ford of Europe expects the programmes to result in the reduction of several hundred salaried positions, but exact figures won't be known for a few months," Ford said. 


Ford also said that its European operations are expected to suffer losses of up to $1 billion this year.
