Under a new decree issued by the Transportation Ministry, everyone travelling outside their home region will have to show their passport.
The decree, which was passed in September 2012, is to put an end to the sale of interregional tickets to customers who cannot show a valid identification document.
The data collected will then be passed on to a centralized database accessible to "law enforcement and regulatory authorities" so that it will be easier to track the movements of anyone travelling by bus, train, plane or boat.
