The term of NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen is extended by one more year.
The former Danish prime minister was to end his duties in July 2013, but will be in office until July 2014, shortly before the NATO ends its mission in Afghanistan.
Rasmussen's extended term was announced on October 3, 2012, following months of speculation amongst potential successors.
Traditionally, NATO chiefs are appointed for a four-year term with a possible extension of a year.
