By the time of its completion, Singapore's National Stadium is to feature a retractable roof that is expected to become the world's largest dome.


The stadium, which cost around $1.33 billion to build, seats 55,000 and has been tipped to become a major addition to the city's skyline. Its retractable roof is made of a lightweight weather-resistant material called ETFE and is to be adorned with 3,000 LED lights. The steel support of the stadium's roof spans 310 meters. 


The National Stadium is part of Singapore's Sports Hub whose construction was started in 2010.
