One of the top contemporary art galleries in France, the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, opens a Manhattan branch.
Founded in 1989, Perrotin is one of the world's most prestigious art galleries, having made a name for itself by representing artists such as Takashi Murakami and Maurizio Cattelan.
Perrotin was also the first curator to have given the famous artist Damien Hirst a commercial gallery show.
The Manhattan branch will occupy three floors and 4,300 square feet in a building that used to house the Bank of New York.
"New York remains the capital of the art market, and it is key that we are a part of it", founder Emmanuel Perrotin said when the new branch was first announced in October 2012.
