Eight anniversary of Yasser Arafat's death 2012

It is the 8th anniversary of the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, while an investigation continues to establish how he died.
The more unlikely rumours were that he had cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, or AIDS. But the most persistent suspicion is that Arafat was poisoned without it being clear who would have done it, and why. Tests revealed that traces from his body contained an abnormal amount of polonium-210 - a rare, highly radioactive chemical.
This finding motivated his wife Suha Arafat to request the Palestinian Authority to exhume his body from his grave in Ramallah, to establish the true cause of death. It has been agreed that a post-mortem will be carried out by two teams. The inquiry by a French team of experts is done on behalf of Suha Arafat, while a Swiss lab team acts for the Palestinian Authority with whom Suha has a very uneasy relationship.
Yasser Arafat was revered as a Palestinian leader, but also heavily criticized by his opponents who allege he obstructed a solution of the conflict with Israel and claim he misappropriated large funds from the Palestinian Authority.
