N Korea pyramid hotel "Ryugyong" likely to open

The North Korea-based pyramid hotel Ryugyong is likely to open, Kempinski AG chief Reto Wittwer has told participants to a Forum held in South Korea's capital Seoul. The iconic hotel, whose foundations were laid almost three decades ago, is to be managed by German luxury-hotel operator Kempinski AG.
Ryugyong is 105-story tall and offers shops, offices and several ball rooms and restaurants.
North Korean authorities do not allow free travel to the country for US, European and South Korean nationals. However, lately North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been supportive of the idea that tourism could earn the cash-strapped country the much needed foreign currency.
North Korea has been a subject of international sanctions imposed after the country conducted nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009.
