Moscow's Manezh Square hosts Christkindelmärik, a renowned Strasbourg Christmas market, for a period of two weeks between Western Christmas and the Russian celebration. 


According to Alexei Nemeryuk, head of Moscow's government trade and services department, the market will "enable Muscovites to become familiar with European Christmas traditions and crafts". It will also benefit the economic cooperation between Russia and France.


The market has been made possible thanks to a joint effort between the embassies of the two countries. The opening is expected to be attended by Strasbourg's mayor Roland Ries.
