Canadian telecommunication company Research In Motion Limited (RIM) launches its newest smartphone, the BlackBerry 10.
President and CEO of RIM Thorsten Heins promises the newest BlackBerry will be "unlike any smartphone on the market today". The BB10 will feature a new user experience that allows navigation across applications and a new keyboard that adapts itself to how users type in order to maximize speed and efficiency.
The gadget is also the first BlackBerry product to have been certified ahead of its launch. The FIPS 140-2 certification allows the BB10 to be deployed by government agencies as soon as it is launched.
In June 2012, the company announced it would axe over 5,000 jobs due to disappointing sales as a result of fierce competition with Apple's popular iPhone.
