Cyber Monday, the online version of Black Friday, allows people to continue their holiday shopping without the hassle of physically searching for bargains.
Studies have shown that the Monday after the biggest sales-day of the year, particularly in the United States, is the biggest online shopping day of the year.
The term, 'Cyber Monday', was coined by the retail web-site www.shop.org as a marketing term to persuade people to follow through with their shopping sprees from the comfort of their homes. In 2006 the portal www.cybermonday.com was launched, whose aim is to provide shoppers with a 'one-stop shop' where they may easily find all online shopping bargains in one location.
Online shopping has steadily gained more popularity since it's debut in the mid-1990's. It is a more practical way of shopping for a lot of people, products are more conveniently available and the selection is much larger than in physical stores.
For Cyber Monday many retailers offer promotional codes for bargain products and holiday travel bookings can be reduced to half their price.
