Philippines holds parliamentary elections 2013

Mid-term parliamentary elections are held in the Republic of the Philippines, together with elections of officials in the Philippine provinces, Philippine municipalities and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. A total of about 18,022 national and local officials are to be elected.
The Commission on Elections advised on November 27, 2012 that it would most likely allow only 80 to 100 party-list organizations to run electoral candidates in 2013, substantially less than the 289 organizations submitting their party-list applications in April 2012. The Commission said the main reason is that many would-be candidate organizations do not comply with all of the 8 candidacy requirements.
Candidates for about 230 seats in the House of Representatives are elected by plurality vote in single-member districts for 3 years. In the Senate, 24 members are elected by plurality vote in multi-member districts for 6 years.
