Colombian leftist rebels belonging to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) face a deadline to strike a peace deal with the government to bring the year-long negotiations to a successful end.
Peace talks between the two sides were launched on October 18, 2012.
A month later, President Juan Manuel Santos added urgency to the process by announcing the negotiations "should not last any longer than November [..] at the latest".
The president nevertheless recognized it was "important to be patient, and not demand immediate results, because...some very complicated issues are being discussed".
An estimated 15,000 people have gone missing during Latin America's longest-running insurgency and 600,000 have died as a result of the conflict.
