Rupert Murdoch retains News Corporation as the name of the new publishing division of his media empire.
The new publishing spin-off company will emerge as part of a move by News Corporation to split its ailing newspaper and book publishing operations from its more prosperous movie and television arm.
The entertainment company is to be run under the name 'Fox Group' after the split.
Managing editor of the Wall Street Journal Robert Thompson has been appointed as chief executive of the new publishing company after Tom Mockridge announced that he will be stepping down from his role at News International.
Other appointments include Bedi Ajay as chief financial officer and Paul Cheesbrough as chief technology officer, while Keisha Smith will serve as director of human resources.
The main assets of the publishing division will be the British and New York newspapers, HarperCollins book publishing and the Australian TV business.
