The premiere of jOBS, the Steve Jobs biopic, takes place at the Sundance Film Festival.
The film, starring Ashton Kutcher as the late Apple CEO, charts the entrepreneur's journey from living a hippie lifestyle to his emergence as a charismatic inventor. This time span covers Jobs' founding of Apple alongside Steve Wozniak, played by Josh Gad.
Production for this film began last June 2012, amid concerns that Kutcher would not be up to the task. Although the actor is mostly known for his roles in comedy films and sitcoms, Sundance director John Cooper says it is typical of the festival to feature works from actors who are "looking to spread out of their comfort zones."
The premiere of this film is confirmed as the festival's closing feature. Trevor Groth, director of programming, reserved the festival's closing slot for "an inspirational and entertaining film about a man who has had such a significant impact on the world."
