Cuba president expected to visit Iran

Cuban President Raul Castro is expected to make an official visit to Iran in a bid to strengthen strategic relations between the two countries.
The decision was announced by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who said his country supports Iran at mutual, regional and international levels. He also added that the country backs the Islamic Republic's right to make use of peaceful nuclear energy.
President Castro has on many occasions praised what he sees as Iran's defiance against imperialism.
Iran has been seeking to strengthen its foothold in South America since President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came into power. The controversial leader has also made official trips to Brazil, Bolivia and Venezuela during his reign.
