Iran’s Space Agency (ISA) has said it plans to send a monkey into space on its Pishgam satellite carrier.
Hamid Fazeli, President of the ISA, said that the country's space body is "fully prepared to send the Pishgam satellite carrier carrying a bio-capsule with a living creature."
Recent years have seen a growing effort by the Islamic republic to develop its space program.
In February 2010, the country sent its first bio-capsule of living creatures into space on the Kavoshgar 3 carrier. Between 2009 and 2012 Iran launched three satellites into the Earth’s orbit.
