Egyptians vote in charter referendum's second round

Egyptians head to polls in the second round of the referendum on the new draft constitution, which was finalized by an Islamist-led Constituent Assembly in late November.
At the first phase of voting in the referendum last weekend, 57 percent voted in favor of the draft constitution. For the legislation to be implemented, more than 50 percent of all voters have to approve. The opposition National Salvation Front coalition, however, insisted that it would "not recognize any unofficial result" since the formal tally will only be known after the second round of the referendum has taken place.

A day before the final stage of the constitutional vote, Muslim Brotherhood held a mass rally in Egypt's second largest city in protest to violent confrontations between the Islamist and their opponents, who refuse to recognize the draft constitution.
The polls have taken place over two days as many judges who are needed to oversee the voting held a boycott in protest against the constitution.
