Egyptian court rules on Mubarak appeal

A Cairo court rules on the appeal of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak over life term in prison, the sentence which the former military commander, together with the country's former Interior Minister Habib al-Adli, received in June 2012.
The two former Egyptian politicians have been held responsible for the deaths of around 850 protesters who were killed by security forces during the 2011 eighteen-day revolt against Mubarak, which was fueled by poverty and anger at the regime's corruption.
Should the appeals be accepted, Mubarak and al-Adli would be retried over these charges. The ruling comes less than a month before the second anniversary of Mubarak's resignation.
The court is also set to rule on appeals over corruption charges filed by Mubarak's sons Alaa and Gamal.
