Uruguay senate set to vote on gay marriage

The lower house approved The Marriage Equality Law in a vote on December 11, 2012.
The senate was expected to vote on the bill on the same month, but demands for more discussion led to a postponement. The delay was criticised by gay rights groups and dozens of people demonstrated outside the Congress building.
If the bill is passed, Uruguay will follow Argentina as the second country to allow gay marriage in Latin America.
