Pakistani Foreign Minister visits Saudi Arabia

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar visits Saudi Arabia on the invitation of the Saudi foreign minister, in an attempt to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
Her visit comes after reports that the Pakistani plans to establish a gas pipeline with Iran as part of the country's energy program have alarmed the Saudi Arabian regime.
However, it is unlikely that the Saudis will be able to convince Pakistan to abandon its energy plans with Iran.
The Foreign Office spokesman for Pakistan Moazzam Khan said that Pakistan needs to explore less expensive means of energy.
"We attach importance to the gas pipeline project and the decision in this regard will be taken in the best national interest," he said.
