EPA head Lisa Jackson steps down

Jackson was outspoken on the need to protect disadvantaged communities from being disproportionately affected by environmental harm and argued for limits on emissions from coal-fired power plants in the administration's fight against global warming.
She also played a key role in securing a deal to ensure higher standards of fuel economy in motor vehicles and fought many political battles with congressional Republicans during her four year spell.
President Obama commented on her departure, saying that she led a "sensible and important" EPA effort during her time as administrator.
