Shadow operation of new Indonesian airport begins

Indonesia's Kuala Namu International Airport is set to begin its 'shadow operation', Transportation Minister E E Mangidaan has announced.
The move will allow the government to review the airport's processes and correct any flaws before it will be announced as being fully operational in March.
It will be the second largest airport in the country after Jakarta's Soekarno Hatta Airport and will replace the 70-year-old Polonia Airport, which has been operating beyond its capacity.
Kuala Namu Airport will support Soekarno Hatta Airport, allowing passengers to fly directly from Kuala Namu to Incheon Airport in South Korea to connect to other destinations.
Railway facilities supporting the airport currently being developed will also be ready by March, according to Deputy Transportation Minister Bambang Susantono.
