Connecticut town collects violent games after killings

A Connecticut community located near Newtown, the scene of the Sandy Hook shootings, collects violent video games in exchange for gift certificates. The organizers, the Southington SOS, plan to burn the video games which they argue desensitize children to "acts of violence".
On December 14, 2012, the mass shootings at the Sandy Hook elementary school claimed the lives of 20 first graders and six educators.
The mass shooting has fueled a longstanding debate over gun control policies in the US. In the aftermath of the Connecticut shootings, President Obama set January 31 as the deadline for proposals addressing the problem of gun violence in the US.
On January 3, 2012, the students of the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown resumed classes in neighboring Monroe, Connecticut.
