The NFS has boycotted the series of dialogue meetings that were launched by President Mohamed Morsi in December amid growing political crisis. Islamist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, the Salafist Calling and the Wasat Party together with the liberal group Ghad Al-Thawra have been the main players in such talks.
According to former Egyptian vice president Mahmoud Mekki, eight NSF members will take part in the seventh National Dialogue conference.
Ahmed Sobie, a leading member of the Freedom and Justice Party, which is part of the opposition coalition, emphasised the importance of a dialogue as the only means to reach an agreement on crucial matters.
"We are facing important legislative decisions, including the new parliamentary elections law," Sobie said. "We also would like to discuss the controversial articles of the constitution. President Morsi wants to discuss all these articles carefully before referring it to the House of Representatives (parliament's lower house) after it is elected."
