Protests over union flag continue despite violence

About 150 loyalists are expected to take part in a short protest at Leinster House, as part of the ongoing protests over the union flag controversy which has led to several indicdents of violence.
Loyalists have been protesting over the Belfast City Council's decision to fly the union flag only on designated days. In a recent protest in Northern Ireland's capital, police and Loyalist protesters clashed once again, with reports about shots being fired and a 38-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Despite growing violence, Loyalist activist Willie Frazer has announced his intensions to see fresh demonstrations held in Dublin.
Loyalists have been protesting over the Belfast City Council's decision to fly the union flag only on designated days. Police, which dealt with disorder in several streets of the city, fired three plastic baton
rounds and deployed water cannon after its officers were attacked with fireworks,
stones, bricks and missiles. Several cars were also set on fire.
