Israeli social activist charged in Tel Aviv court

Charges are to be read at the Tel Aviv magistrates court against
prominent social justice activist Daphni Leef, following her
participation in a rowdy demonstration in the city.
The hearing was supposed to take place on January 7 but was adjourned following a request by Leef's lawyer, who asked for more time to examine the charges, which they received but a day before the hearing was supposed to take place.
Leef faces several charges including participating in a violent demonstration and use of force, when she allegedly led demonstrators in assaulting officers who were about to dismantle tents set up by the protestors.
The activist has denied all charges, claiming she was targeted because of her position as the head of the movement. She also added she was determined to prove her innocence and was considering filing a lawsuit against the police for injuries she had sustained during the protest.
