'State of Palestine' to be used in public documents

The title 'State of Palestine' is set to be used in public documents, such as passports, ID cards and driving licences issued in the West Bank.
Until now the documents have been stamped "Palestinian Authority". In November, however, the territory's status has been upgraded to that of a UN non-member observer state.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that labeling public documents would help bolster the Palestinian state "on the ground and build its institutions...and its sovereignty over the land".
The foreign ministry and embassies were ordered by the president to start using "State of Palestine" in official correspondence.
