An International Experts' Meeting on Decommissioning and Remediation after a Nuclear Accident (IEM) is held by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).


The meeting will take place in accordance with the unanimously endorsed draft IAEA Action Plan on Nuclear Safety which was presented at the IAEA General Conference in September 2011.


The IEM will aim to highlight the short and long term issues to be addressed when decommissioning a facility and during remediation of the surrounding environment affected by a nuclear accident.


It was against the backdrop of the accident that took place at the TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in March 2011 that the regulatory body decided to draft the Action Plan on Nuclear Safety.
