Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas' Political Bureau Chief, Khaled Mashaal, may meet in Cairo.


The meeting was called by Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi, who urged the two leaders to cooperate and reach reconciliation and unity. The Egyptian leader conceded that reaching full reconciliation "would not be an easy task".


While the participation of the Hamas' Political Bureau Chief was not confirmed, the visit of Mahmoud Abbas was announced by Palestinian sources. According to Egyptian Ambassador in Ramallah, Yasser Othman, President Morsi invited his Palestinian counterpart to Cairo to "discuss various issues".


Cairo might re-assume the mediation role in the talks aimed at pursuing full Palestinian national reconciliation, according to sources involved in the process.
