New Virgin Atlantic CEO assumes position

Craig Kreeger, previously employed with American Airlines, assumes the position of Virgin Atlantic's new CEO. He succeeds Steve Ridgway, who is retiring from Virgin Atlantic after serving as Chief Executive for 11 years.
Kreeger's experience covers commercial, financial and strategic roles after working with American Airlines for 27 years.
The management change follows Delta Airline's recent acquisition of a 49 percent stake in Virgin Atlantic, which leaves founder Richard Branson with the controlling 51 percent stake in the British airline company. Although the Delta-Virgin deal requires regulatory approval in the US and the EU, it is expected to be closed by the end of 2013.
According to Branson, Kreeger "is the right person to succeed Steve Ridgway at this dynamic and challenging time for our airline."
