The trial of fourteen American and one Egyptian activists charged with illegally operating NGOs is set to resume, following its earlier adjournment.
The total number of people who would have been placed on trial is 43. However, many of them sought refuge in the US embassy and later fled the country.
Their crime was to work with two US democracy promotion groups and one German one in 2011.
It was hoped that the trial would have ended by January, but was only adjourned till March, with fears that it may drag on for longer.
