Turkish Airlines is to order 177 passenger jets from French-based Airbus, an aircraft manufacturing subsidiary of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company. 


The Turkish flag carrier seeks to nearly double the jets in its fleet and become a global leader.


The company confirmed in March its plan to buy 82 planes and has an option to buy another 35.
