A judicial commission is to probe the death of a Pakistani police officer who was investigating corruption allegations against Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf. 


Kamran Faisal was found dead on January 17 in his apartment in Islamabad, which he shared with colleagues from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the country's anti-corruption body. It was not immediately clear whether his death was a suicide or murder. 


The investigation commission will be headed by retired supreme court judge Justice Javed Iqbal and will be allowed to summon anyone from the police, NAB or other departments.


The Pakistani Supreme Court ordered Ashraf's arrest over corruption allegations on January 15. The NAB, however, refused to take the prime minister into custody and the hearing in the case was adjourned until January 23.
