Australia-India hold uranium sale talks

Australia and India are set to begin talks on a civil nuclear co-operation agreement, which is expected to lead to a landmark deal that will allow the eventual sale of Australian uranium to the second most populous country in the world.
Government officials from the two countries will discuss a deal reached in principle during Julia Gillard's visit to India last year.
A successful resolution of the uranium export deal would be the most significant agreement signed between the two countries since the strategic partnership arrangement was penned between former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2009.
Uranium exports to India cannot begin until the civil nuclear co-operation talks are concluded and Australian requirements, including an undertaking that no uranium will be used in weapons making facilities, are met.
