Bahrain's government holds talks with opposition

The move comes after opposition groups accepted an invitation by King Hamad bin Issa Al-Khalifa, who issued a new directive urging "representatives of the political societies and independent members of the political community" to restart political talks.
Once all parties have nominated their representatives, the talks will begin, provided they are "very serious" about dialogue, Information Minister Samira Rajab said.
The government will moderate the event, arrange an agenda for the proceedings and will implement any recommendations which result from the talks, she added.
The country has been gripped by political unrest since early 2011, when protests led by the majority Shi'ite population demanding democratic change from the Sunni-led monarchy began.
