Public sector protests the unresolved wage scale -

Nation-wide strikes are organized by the Syndicate Coordination Committee (SCC) with the intention of bringing the public sector to a standstill as a means to protest the "cabinet's procrastination in referring the new wage scale to the parliament for vote." 


The government argued that it is delaying the issue to discuss plans to boost the treasury's revenue to cover the expenses of a raise in wages. 


"We will not accept any further delay of this issue" the SCC said, proposing the option of referring the matter to parliament as an urgent bill.
