The Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau sends investigators looking into recent problems with Dreamliner 787 batteries to Seattle, where the Boeing aircraft are assembled.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) conducted in January a comprehensive review of one of the most advanced planes ever created following a series of incidents that put the safety of Boeing's flagship plane in doubt.
Japan's transportation ministry has also been inspecting all 787 Dreamliners operated by All Nipon Airways Co Ltd (ANA) and Japan Airlines after they were grounded on January 16 due to overheated batteries.
Investigators in both countries have been trying to determine why the batteries overheated and how to fix the problem.
