Syrian foreign minister visits China to discuss ways to end Syrian civil war

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem visits China to meet with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi in a bid to push for a political solution to end the 22-month-old war in Syria.
"This is part of China's effort to push for a political resolution of the Syrian issue," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying commented on the visit.
China, together with Russia, has blocked three UN Security Council resolutions aimed at suspending Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from office or pressuring him to end the Syrian civil war.
