The new US Secretary of State John Kerry introduces himself to State Department's employees after he was sworn into the office on February 1, succeeding Hillary Clinton in President Barack Obama's second administration. 

Kerry spent most of his first weekend in the office making connections with leaders around the world, including his counterparts in Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Canada and Mexico. 


The Secretary of State also contacted the leaders of Israel and Palestine to assure them that the administration will continue to work towards finding ways to reach a Middle East peace agreement.
