The United Arab Emirates cut costs of more than 6,600 types of imported medicine brands by up to 40 percent after the country's cabinet adopted a package of regulations on February 3.
UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum instructed the Health Ministry to issue a new medicine price list and gave pharmacies three months to adjust their prices.
Under the new system, the medicine prices in UAE will be unified with those in other five Gulf Cooperation Council states.
